* Victoria Secret Model Restrictions

* Following the review of the recently televised special  "The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" Go Remote has been forced to restrict the wardrobes of models who apply to the Papua New Guinea search adventure.
Due to restrictions of luggage space -- wings will no longer be permitted with jungle gear.

Go Remote regrets the restriction.

Something caused me to recall that old Army proverb; "Spent my pay on women and whiskey...and just wasted the rest of it."

The Gray Ghost, The USS Lexington

At anchor in Corpus Christ, Texas, the "Gray Ghost" earned her nickname in WWII. She is a veteran of the Pacific (active 1943 to 1991). See the interesting details on her web page. www.usslexington.com

"The Gray Ghost" was also recently featured on a TV program about the paranormal.

FOUR VETERAN B-25 BOMBER PILOTS

Recently these Greatest Generation pilots flew Pacific Prowler:

They are left to right:

Rod, Fifty combat missions - assisting Go Remote in the search documentary for his former crew.

Buzz, Overflew an American POW camp to drop a "war is over" note and all the supplies on the B-25, including their own clothing.

Lynn, Crashed into the sea near a Japanese occupied island, losing one crewmember, and was rescued.

New Guinea Tribal Celebration

These are recent shots of the Tolai before the death feast at Matupit Island near Rabaul (New Britain, northern part of Papua New Guinea about 2 degrees off the Equator above Australia. Rabaul was a major Japanese Navy based and frequent bombing target.)

My friend, Australian outfitter Tony Quinlan of TQ Trekking, was kind enough to allow me to post his recent shots on the Go Remote page. Tony’s Australian based company, runs adventures that include the tough and sometimes very wild Kokoda Trail. The Kokoda Trail is the mountainous battle area where the Australians stopped the Japanese infantry advance in the mountains outside Port Moresby. www.tqtrekking.com.au Tony’s company shares many of the same serious adventure outlooks as Go Remote.

Tsunamis and active volcanoes are part of “remote” New Guinea. (When we say “serious adventures” we mean it.)

Mt. Tavurvur’s volcano has been extremely active for the past three months and you can see the ash deposits. The volcano is erupting constantly and there were two earthquakes in three days while Tony was there. (On my prior adventures I talked with persons who shared some incredible accounts of prior ash entrapments …including at airfields.)

Huge amounts of bananas and shell money are shared.

And lots of great festival food…..

P.S. – IF this pig was stolen from another group– try not to be in the fight.
